The problem
A band took the ridge caps and about six squares off the south slope, and the exposed underlayment failed within hours. The first adjuster scope covered a repair to one slope. The wind pattern across the whole roof said otherwise.
What we did
Mechanically fastened tarp at the ridge the same afternoon, then a full photographic record, slope by slope, with attic moisture readings at four points. That record supported a supplement covering the full roof. We are not adjusters and we did not argue the claim. We showed what was there and put the scope in writing.
The detail
Twenty-two sheets of sheathing came off. The estimate had carried a per-sheet allowance from day one, so the owner knew the number before the first sheet moved. No change order, no conversation on the driveway about what it was going to cost now.
