Eastern White Pine
Pinus strobus
The softest and most workable of the eastern pines, and the product we are known for. Appearance through industrial, boards through timbers.
Creamy white through pale straw, straight and even grained, low in resin, and about as dimensionally stable as a softwood gets. It machines without tearout, nails without splitting, glues cleanly, and takes paint and stain more evenly than almost anything else on the rack.

Most of our value shows up here. This section is our trading judgement rather than a specification, and we would rather talk it through than have you take it as gospel.
Substitutes for
Western Red Cedar
In interior paneling and paint-grade siding it holds pattern and finish at a materially different cost. Not a swap where unfinished exterior exposure is the point.
Substitutes for
Ponderosa & Sugar Pine
Shop and moulding stock is the cleanest crossover. Similar working properties, and when the West Coast shop market tightens this is where buyers land.
Substitutes for
Poplar & soft hardwoods
Paint-grade millwork and trim. Lighter, more stable, and it machines with less tearout.
Substitutes for
SPF & Hemlock
Appearance boards where the face matters. A better-looking board off the same rack space.

Ground contact & structural spans
Not a treated or structural product. If the application is load-bearing or in the dirt we will move you to the right species instead of selling you the wrong one.
