The process
Every project runs on its own clock. These are the stages it passes through.
Stage 01
Schedule an appointment with our marine facility builders to kickstart your project. We look at the site, the use, and the budget before anything is drawn.
Stage 02
Anyone constructing a new dock within or on the banks of state surface waters must first obtain a permit. Tidewater Marine handles the permitting process. Depending on the project it may be one week, or one to two months.
Stage 03
We own and operate the equipment for the job. Every piling is driven to refusal, guaranteeing no piling will ever sink past the point it was driven.
Stage 04
Framing, decking, roofs and lifts, built with top-of-the-line materials chosen for a harsh, saltwater environment.
Stage 05
Once your construction permit is issued we allocate a crew, and once we get on-site we don't leave until your job is complete.

FAQs
Yes, anyone planning to install or construct a new dock (including any docking structure such as a boathouse) within or on the banks of state surface waters must first obtain a permit. Tidewater Marine can handle the permitting process, making the project flow as smooth as possible from beginning to end.
People commonly refer to all vertical shoreline structures as “seawalls,” but there is a difference between a seawall and a bulkhead. A seawall is a structure that provides shoreline protection from waves but also retains soil. A bulkhead is a shoreline stabilization structure that primarily retains soil, and provides minimal protection from waves.
If you see enough damage to question whether it's time to repair or replace your seawall your best option is to consult a licensed contractor. Factors that could influence your decision are: amount of damage present; cost of seawall repair vs. replacement; decision to use different materials; plans to sell the property.
The answer is as custom as your project. Three main factors affect completion dates.
Permitting. Depending on the project, permitting may only be one week, or it could be over one to two months. We stay on top of the process each step of the way and do all we can to minimize it.
Weather. coastal weather doesn't always cooperate with projects. For the safety of our staff, we take inclement weather seriously.
Crew availability. We are a relatively small company, and book our projects a ways out. Once your construction permit is issued, we will immediately allocate a crew to your project, and once we get on-site, we don't leave until your job is complete.
For some projects we can have everything wrapped up in less than 2 weeks. For a client whose dock or marine project has unique variances, it may be 8–12 months from contract signing to completion.
Tidewater will work with most dock, bulkhead, boathouse and boat lift projects, no matter the size. The only limiting factor we sometimes come across with regard to our services is your location in regard to our schedule. We're always happy to discuss any and all projects, so give us a call.
