Eastern White Pine
Pinus strobus
The softest and most workable of the eastern pines, and the product Diorio Forest Products is known for. Straight even grain, low resin, excellent dimensional stability. Machines, nails and glues cleanly and takes paint and stain evenly. Sold by the truckload to dealers, distributors, remanufacturers and builders.

Substitution and alternative uses
Most of our value shows up here. Customers come to us for one item and leave with the one that actually fits the job, the budget and the lead time.
Substitutes for
Western Red Cedar
Interior paneling and paint-grade siding. Holds pattern and finish at a materially different cost. Not a swap where unfinished exterior exposure is the point.
Substitutes for
Ponderosa & Sugar Pine
Shop and moulding stock is the cleanest crossover. Similar working properties, and when the West Coast shop market tightens this is where buyers land.
Substitutes for
Poplar & soft hardwoods
Paint-grade millwork and trim. Lighter, more stable, machines with less tearout.
Substitutes for
SPF & Hemlock
Appearance boards where the face matters. A better-looking board off the same rack space.

Not a treated or structural product. If the application is load-bearing or in the dirt we will move you to the right species instead of selling you the wrong one.
