Eastern White Pine is the softest and most workable of the eastern pines, and it is the product Diorio Forest Products is known for. Creamy white through pale straw, straight and even grained, low in resin, and about as dimensionally stable as a softwood gets. It machines without tearout, nails without splitting, glues cleanly, and takes paint and stain more evenly than almost anything else on the rack.
It grows in one part of the world — the northeastern United States and eastern Canada — which is exactly why it rewards a trader with real mill relationships. The supply is finite. When it tightens, the people who get it are the ones the mills want to sell to.
